Tony and Anne Stevens strongly promote training for women to combat the perception of their vunerability where car servicing and maintenance are concerned.
|
Anne Stevens hosts an annual get together with all her female customers which offer hands on practical advice about car maintenance and also crime prevention.
Research has shown that women continue to be concerned about driving alone, especially at night.
Anne Stevens beleives "Women are frightened that something may happen if they break down, and that somebody may come up and try to approach them or try to break into their car."
The women only safety evenings promoted by CRSS are divided into theory and practical demonstrations. Courses cover basic car maintenance and lectures on on motorway safety, crime prevention and reassurance about the rarity of violent crime.
The course covers how to change a wheel, check the oil, water and tyres, and how to cover traffic and crime prevention from a practical and theoretical prospective. Events are aimed at novice and experienced female drivers.
